Its major constituent is Alliin, which is rapidly converted to Allicin (probably not bioactive in the body) and then allicin is further degraded into either Ajoene (which is one major bioactive), Reduces total cholesterol and Low-density Lipoprotein (LDL-C), while increasing High-density Lipoprotein (HDL-C). Induce fat loss and adrenaline secretion and reduce triglyceride levels.

Increase the availability and activities of nitric oxide, inhibiting ACE thereby reducing a number of pathways that are known to decrease plasma volume and vasoconstriction, and lastly, increasing the production of H2S that results in hyperpolarization of vascular smooth muscle cells.
